Deathtrap poster

This is a poster I'm working on for the local community theater. I did not do the main design but am rather working from a concept sketch someone else gave me. I added the line up and down of the t and p and I'm hoping it passes muster. I'd like to really play around with it more but in all things life, probably don't have the time. Originally I was hoping this would be a chance to try some poster ideas I've seen popping up on various design blogs I read. Maybe next time. :)

Autumn 2008

Spelling what?

I like where they're headed but I think the 2 and the 8 are cut off too much. Not quite sure what to do there. I think I like the colors but I might play around a bit here as well. Seems sparse. Originally I wanted to do it like a poster for a band, but when I flipped it to a horizontal document I feel like I'm making more of a post card.

I posted this some time ago but it's been brought to the light again. I think I still like it. I find that the most frustrating part of poster design (freelance design) is how you have to change the design to fit all the information they want on there but didn't tell you originally. So you design it with a certain amount of type in mind and then find out right at the very end all the additional type. I think it's too easy for people (me included) to think of type as something different than the design as a whole. Type isn't separate from a poster, it IS a poster.

Encore Poster

Poster I did for a show this last spring. The designer is doing an encore show in October and so hopefully you'll be seeing these out and about here pretty soon.

Dinner (and a) Show

I started this project some time ago but it was put on hold while an organizer was found. In that time I started learning Illustrator so what was originally a Photoshop project is now becoming an Illustrator one.

The little faces at the bottom look like they are possessed and I just realized I'm missing some, well, words. (Details.)

It's fun to be working on a project in the right program...not that I totally know how to use that program but I'm slowly mastering polka dots. This sounds like a small feat but in my small personal design world it's huge.
